A WARRINGTON village has been named as one of the UK’s best places to live.
Lymm was featured in the list of the country’s top 300 places to reside, following a study by women’s lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos.
It was one of a number of Cheshire places to be named, along with Alderley Edge, Chester, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Mobberley, Nantwich, Prestbury, Tarporley and Wilmslow.
Judges described Lymm as an ‘unpretentious village that is mighty fine to look at, hooking around the ethereal Lymm Dam’.
They said: “So, you like the good life? Great restaurants, buzzing community, lots of wide-open space to hike and bike and escape the thrum?
“Better move to Lymm then – an under-the-radar village that is not trying to be anything other than a genteel and arms-wide-open place to call home.”
The guide for Lymm on the website names great places to eat, drink and shop, as well as nearby cultural attractions.
In the community category, Muddy Stilettos said: “There is a whole lot celebrated in the village to bring the community together, with the crowning of the May Queen being one of its biggest, where a procession of dancers, floats and children are ferried through the streets.
“There is also the Easter duck race, Lymm Festival covering music, dance and comedy, Lymm Beer and Gin Festival, and as the festive season approaches The Christmas Tree Festival and Dickensian Day, when hundreds of Santas race through the village.”
Hero Brown, founder and editor-in-chief of Muddy Stilettos, said: “When people decide to move, they are searching for more than just a house.
“They want a home, a lifestyle that works for them and their family, and if they are strategic, a long-term investment too.
“Our 2025 ‘Top 300 Best Places To Live’ guide will give them that extra reassurance they need to make their search easier in these difficult economic times.
“We have built our reputation on our first-hand knowledge of the most exciting, vibrant places to go and things to do outside London.
“The 2025 list is a natural step for us to continue to expand our authority in this area.
“Combined with up-to-the-minute listings of desirable properties, we think it is a unique reference point in a turbulent yet hopefully resilient property market.”
