THERE were 225 babies born under Warrington and Halton Hospital Teaching Hospitals last month.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust collates all the baby-related data every month detailing how many babies are born – boys and girls – whether there are any sets of twins or triplets and how babies are delivered.

There are monthly stats for the lightest baby and the heaviest baby and which is the busiest day of each month for new arrivals.

Some 225 new arrivals were born at Warrington Hospital or at home in the ninth month of 2024 – 110 boys and 115 girls – and three sets of twins.

The lightest baby born in September weighed 1lb 7oz (670g) and the heaviest baby topped the scales at 11lb 3oz (5,080g).

The busiest day for babies being born last month was September 17 when 15 babies made an appearance.

Six babies were born in the Nest – the midwifery-led unit – together with 35 elective Caesarean sections and 60 unplanned Caesarean sections.

There were 97 vaginal births and 33 assisted deliveries and some 83 babies were induced.

Five babies were born at home and there were six water births with 70 per cent of babies being breast fed and 82 per cent of babies experiencing skin to skin at birth.
