EMERGENCY services are dealing with an incident on the railway this morning, Monday.
Trains are cancelled between Warrington Central and Manchester Oxford Road.
This is due to an emergency incident, Network Rail and train operator Northern is reporting, with this believed to be at Birchwood station.
It has since been confirmed that a person has died.
Rail passengers are urged to find alternative routes, or to find alternative means of transport if possible.
In a statement, Network Rail said: “There are no trains running through Warrington Central between Liverpool and Manchester.
“This is due to the emergency services attending an incident.
“We are sorry for any disruption to journeys this morning.”
Northern said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway, between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central, the line is blocked.
“Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.”
