NEW plans have proposed the dates on which work will start to build a new drive-thru doughnut store in Warrington.

As previously reported, a huge name in the dessert world is set to open a new kiosk off one of the town’s busiest roundabouts.

Plans were given the green light by Warrington Borough Council’s planning department in March for the new Krispy Kreme venue.

This is on land off Cockhedge Green roundabout – on an existing car park that is part of School Brow Retail Park, in between Manchester Road, School Brow and Hopwood Street.

Although permission was granted, certain planning conditions have to be discharged, or completed, before work can commence.

A new planning application has been made in relation to these conditions, with documents proposing a project start date of January 2025.

The plans go on to propose a project duration of 12 weeks, with a completion date estimated to be April 2025.

Although eight EV charging spots will be created, the plans overall will reduce the size of the car park by 33 spaces, from 120 to 87.

Also included in the plans by applicant IGP Investments Ltd are associated works including landscaping and the reconfiguration of the existing car park.

There would be space for seven vehicles in the queue for the kiosk.

A traffic impact statement reads: “Vehicle trips to and from the proposed drive-thru unit would likely be in the local area in any event.

“As such, it is not anticipated that the development would affect the nature of the operation of the local road network.”

The kiosk unit would not feature any internal customer seating, meaning that all food sold from the unit will be collected and consumed off-site via customer collection points.

Krispy Kreme, an American multinational doughnut company and coffee house chain, was founded by Vernon Rudolph in North Carolina in 1937.
