THE streets of Warrington have welcomed many TV and film crews this year.
Earlier this year, the council revealed that it receives ‘multiple enquiries’ each year for requests for filming.
And since then, camera crews have been spotted across the town.
Here are the times this year where Warrington has provided a backdrop for a number of new projects in 2024.
Brassic
Back in January, many excited residents captured selfies with the cast of Brassic as Sky One film crews took over a street in Orford for the day.
This was for the filming of the sixth series of the comedy drama.
Film crew trucks lined Tomlinson Avenue and surrounding areas and famous faces from the case were spotted on the scene, including This is England star Joseph Gilgun who plays the main character Vinnie O’Neil in the series.

Geezers
Back in May, the Warrington Guardian reported that filming was under way in the town for a gripping new gangster flick, Geezers, which would feature famous faces including Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder and dancer Bez.
Pictures of film crews on set at The Hive on Cairo Street were released as film director Ciaron Davies revealed a portion of the filming would take place in Warrington town centre.
Meanwhile other locations selected to film scenes for the crime movie included the Fat Cat Ball Room also on Cairo Street and the old bank vault.
At the time, speaking on his choice of filming locations for the new motion picture, writer and director Ciaron Davies said: “We are very excited to film in Warrington as it’s a stunning backdrop for our exciting action film and the local businesses have been a great help in the filming that we have done there.”

Will and Ralf Should Know Better
Also in May, Two Pints of Lager stars Will Mellor and Ralf Little were spotted in Warrington.
Pictures of them paying a visit to Pit Stop Café in Penketh circulated on social media.
While it was initially hoped that the filming was for a reunion, in August it was announced that a new TV show starring the duo would be making its way to screens soon.
Will and Ralf Should Know Better is a four-part series follows the actors embark on challenges that test their attitudes to aging, spirituality and even living off the grid.
“The show is about reflecting what we are like 20 years later, and what the world is like 20 years later,” said Ralf.
The first episode aired earlier this month.

Freemans’ Autumn Winter campaign
Back in July, a film crew was parked outside the Treasury building on Museum Street.
Around the front of the building, a trailer appeared, and eagle-eyed spectators spotted beloved singer and British icon, Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Last month, it was revealed that the Murder on the Dancefloor singer is now the new face of Freemans’ Autumn Winter campaign.
Freemans is a 119-year-old retailer that retired its famous catalogue and has now shifted its focus onto occupying the online department store space.
The advert showcases the beautiful interior of the Treasury, with preview shots showing Sophie posing in and around the lift.

Anemone
Most recently, film crews took over Orford and Thelwall for a new title Anemone.
Hollywood stars were spotted in various locations in the town, with Pickering Crescent in Thelwall welcoming Sean Bean, who is said to be playing the role of an ex-soldier, as well as Daniel Day-Lewis, the three-time Academy Award winner retired in 2017 but is set to take to the screen once again, and Samantha Morton.
Cotswold Road and Chiltern Road in Orford were closed earlier this month to allow for filming.
And camera crews, trucks, and equipment were spotted outside The Poplars as well as the Co-op on Capesthorne Road.

Camera crews have been spotted at Walton Hall and Gardens a number of times this year, although it seems these projects still remain under wraps.
Filming took place at the beauty spot in June and July.
But most recently, filming was seen taking place outside of Walton Hall just this week.
