A WOMAN died after falling at a Culcheth care home.
Margaret Elizabeth Douglas died at Holcroft Grange care home on September 30, age 82.
An inquest into her death has now been launched by Senior Coroner Jacqueline Devonish.
She explained how Mrs Douglas had been admitted to the nursing home on Jackson Avenue for one-to-one care following ‘multiple falls’.
She fell again on September 5, 2024, and was taken to Warrington Hospital.
Following a discussion with the Walton Centre, it was advised that no acute intervention was required.
However, Mrs Douglas deteriorated, suffering from possible aspiration.
Discussions were then held with Mrs Douglas and her next of kin and it was decided to manage with supportive care.
Sadly, Mrs Douglas passed away on September 30.
Opening the inquest on Wednesday (October 16), Ms Devonish said there were ‘care home concerns’.
A case review will take place on December 15 ahead of the full inquest on March 17, 2025.
