A MAN has been traced and arrested on a railway path after shining a laser at a police helicopter while it was conducting a missing person search.

The National Police Air Service were assisting Cheshire Police with a missing person enquiry at around 8.20pm yesterday evening, Tuesday.

While carrying out the search, an 'unknown man' shone a laser at the aircraft and a police pursuit then followed to locate the individual.

Following a thorough search of the Warrington area, including near to Bewsey Road, a 34-year-old local man was found and arrested on the railway track near Froghall Lane.

Cheshire Police has confirmed the man still remains in custody currently.
