A WARRINGTON construction worker who was announced as the competition winner of a dream sports car and £50k cash prize has described the win as ‘life changing’.
Wes Stockley was enjoying his lunch break at work when he clocked the Audi ABT RS6-S parked up on the site.
The construction worker had won the dream car, worth £145,940, after entering the online Best of the Best PLC (BOTB) weekly Dream Car Competition.
BOTB presenter Christian Williams visited the 45-year-old at work to reveal he was this week’s winner, but Wes managed to rumble the surprise as he spotted his new vehicle parked up.
Speaking on the moment he realised he had won the incredible prizes, Wes said: “The fact that I have won this massive prize is still surreal.
“As soon as I saw the car, I clocked what was going on, but to win was still a massive shock to me.
“The last time I remember winning anything was when I won some tickets to see Liverpool play at Anfield when I was in primary school.”
But the surprise didn’t end there, as Christian also revealed that the car came with £50,000 cash hidden in the boot.
“That money is going to really come in handy, and I’m certainly going to enjoy it,” said Wes.
Despite featuring a V8 Twin-Turbo engine, 700bhp and top speed of 180mph, Wes said he was considering taking the cash alternative over the Audi.
“It’s a lovely car and I would love to have one of these, but I’m not sure my partner would allow me to drive around in it for too long. I also don’t think I can justify having a £150,000 car on my driveway.
“It’s a life-changing amount of money to win. Most of the money will probably go in the bank, but I’ll also pay off some of the mortgage, we’ll have a few nice holidays, and I’ll treat some other people. Down the line, I might also get myself a RS 4,” he added.
Christian said: “It’s a huge, huge prize, and we couldn’t be more delighted for Wes.
“Despite rumbling his own surprise, you could see he was still shocked at winning, particularly when he saw what was in the boot of the car.
“It’s a monster of a car, and I’m sure Wes is very tempted to take it, but I appreciate the cash alternative is a life-changing amount of money, which will come in very handy for him and his family.”
Leading car competitions company BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize.
Its win a car competition sees people buy tickets for the car they want to win and then play spot the ball. An independent panel of judges decide who wins.
