A PERSISTENTLY dishonest man was caught wearing a hat when banned from doing so by a court order.

Leon Sherratt has been given a number of chances by the courts, including a community order in July for allowing his home to be used as a drug dealing base.

But the 39-year-old, of Whitecross, has found himself back in prison after stealing from a car.

He appeared before Chester Magistrates’ Court recently, where he admitted breaching his criminal behaviour order and theft from a motor vehicle.

Vincent Yipp, representing the prosecution, explained how Sherratt is the subject of a criminal behaviour order, to give protection to those likely to be targeted by his anti-social behaviour.

Conditions of this include a ban on him entering west Warrington between 8pm and 8am, and from wearing any head or face covering when entering the boundary of any residential property, not including his own or his family, in Cheshire.

The same condition applies when entering the boundary of any Cheshire commercial property, including paths, driveways, car parking and indoor or outdoor stores.

On September 25, in west Warrington, Sherratt stole a dark blue waterproof coat, car equipment, a charging lead and an unknown amount of cash from a woman’s car.

He also approached the vehicle outside a residential address while wearing a head or face covering.

Magistrates highlighted his ‘persistent disregard’ for court orders and extensive previous convictions for like offences.

It was also noted that the offences were committed during the commission of a crown court-imposed community order.

For his latest offences, Sherratt, of Whitecross Road, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, to be served immediately.
