THE timeless classic ‘Grease the Musical’ is gracing the stage at the Palace Theatre Manchester and it is not one to miss.

Admittedly, I have never had the chance to see this well-loved story on stage or screen, so I was a blank slate going in. Jam packed with fun, fast paced movement and humour, I can confidently say it lived up to my expectations.

The performance ran seamlessly, with set and scene transitions smooth and effortless. The scenery was simple yet effective, as the cast were able to quickly change from the iconic Rydell High corridors to the location of the well known, beat up “greased lightning”.

I particularly admired the costumes, which fit into the 1950s theme whilst also including some more modern aspects. Jokes and laughter were in abundance throughout, as adult humour is prevalent yet not overly inappropriate. The entire cast showed overwhelming talent, with Marley Fenton portraying cheeky, charming ‘Danny Zuko’ expertly. An added twist I most certainly enjoyed was the way in which most characters were given a moment in the spotlight, with either a solo song or a powerful duet.

Perfect for a girl's trip or date night, this show is sure to get you itching to bust a move on stage. Each musical number were accompanied by intricate, on point routines that were dazzling and spectacular. The iconic ‘Greased Lightning’ was incredibly impressive, with props and dancing galore.

Another excellent performance was ‘Beauty School Dropout’, which was a song that incorporated the comedic element of the show. The standout highlight of the show was undoubtedly the closing number, which consisted of multiple songs from throughout the night.

As the cast gave us a reminder of the talent we had witnessed on stage during the performance, the entire audience took to their feet to join in with this megamix, as we were treated once again to some outstanding dance work and musicality.
