Warrington's Climate Emergency Forum is set to return for a second year.
Following the success of last year's inaugural event, the 2024 forum will feature more activities and events for individuals and businesses to engage with climate action.
The programme is coordinated by the Warrington Climate Emergency Commission, which was established to spearhead the conversation on local efforts to tackle the climate and ecological emergencies.
This year's forum will include both online and in-person events and activities, led by various groups and organisations.
Highlights include a volunteer drop-in session for those interested in the Sky Garden project, a 'Climate Express' event showcasing recent climate action, and a Lymm Environment Action Forum (LEAF) event to help residents cut energy use and save money.
The forum will run from October 22 to November 24 and will coincide with COP29, the United Nations climate change conference in Azerbaijan.
The schedule includes a range of events, starting with LEAF's energy information and advice session on October 22, providing tips on cutting energy bills.
On November 6, Warrington Borough Council will host a webinar discussing their recent project to replace a gas heating system with a ground source heat pump at Walton Hall.
A Sky Garden volunteer drop-in session is scheduled for November 15 at Golden Square, where attendees can learn about the project and volunteering opportunities.
On the same day, an Energy Efficiency Café for landlords will be held at Outset Café, providing a platform for landlords to discuss energy options as part of the Retrofit for Lets project.
The Birchwood Repair Café, a free drop-in community repair service, will take place on November 16, offering help with fixing a variety of items.
The 'Climate Express' event on November 21 will highlight local responses to the climate emergency, and the forum will conclude on November 24 with 'Our Climate Future', a youth-led community conversation about the future of Warrington in a climate-changing world.
David Ellis, chair of Warrington’s Climate Emergency Commission, said: "The Climate Emergency Forum 2024 is an opportunity for everyone in Warrington to come together and find out more about what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint, whether at work, at home or in the community.
"Building of the success of the forum last year, the expanded range of events this year aims to inspire, inform, and motivate local residents and businesses to address the climate and ecological crises directly, and create meaningful, lasting change in Warrington."
Councillor Hitesh Patel, cabinet member for sustainability and climate change, said: "We’re proud to support this vital programme of events which brings together local people and organisations to learn about climate action and take inspiration from each other to make a difference.
"It’s more important than ever that we work collaboratively to respond to the climate emergency, and this forum provides the perfect platform to do just that."
