A PROUD head teacher has welcomed praising feedback from Ofsted following a visit to a Warrington high school.
Ed McGlinchey, head at St Gregory’s High School in Great Sankey, has spoken of the school’s delight in receiving such a positive report from the education watchdogs following an inspection in July.
Within the official report, published in September, inspectors confirmed the school continued to be ‘good’ and commended the school for how it manages staff workload fairly.
"Managing staff workload is of high importance to the school,” an inspector said. “Changes to practices are communicated well and the school ensures that these are manageable for staff.
“This boosts staff morale and strengthens their commitment to improving the quality of education for pupils."
How the pupils respond positively to learning and are supported at the setting was also highlighted.
"Pupils respond well to the school’s ‘ambition for all’ mantra. Most pupils engage positively with their learning and take pride in their work.
“Learning is rarely disrupted due to poor behaviour. Classrooms are calm and purposeful. Pupils who are vulnerable are supported well to attend school.”
And the relationships the students built between both their peers and teachers was another point of praise from the inspector.
They said: "Pupils are proud to attend this school. They value the strong relationships that they have with their teachers.
“Pupils, including those who attend the specially resourced provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) (specially resourced provision), are well supported. This helps them to feel safe and happy."
Commenting on the recent Ofsted outcome, Mr McGlinchey said: “We are very proud that the inspection team recognised the unique qualities of our pupils and how much they enjoy and value school and their opportunities to lead and show ambition.
“We felt that the inspection had a very human side to it and looked at what makes our school what it is.
“The full credit for the journey we have been on as school must go directly to the teaching and support staff who make this happen, combined with a positive partnership with have with our parents and carers.
“As a school we will not rest, and we will continue to work and use all feedback to provide the best possible school experience for all who attend St Gregory's.”
