THIS year marks 50 years since McDonald's hit the high street.
So to mark the occasion, we are looking back to the birth of Warrington's first drive-thru.
The Winwick Road restaurant was built in 1988, one of the first to be opened in the UK, less than two years after the first in Manchester.
It was built on land on the corner of Winwick Road and Kerfoot Street.
Standing there before was one of Warrington's best-known pubs, The Horse ad Jockey.
It was demolished in 1987 to make way for the McDonald's.
Also known as Peppermint Gardens, it was a popular spot for wedding ceremonies and other family celebrations.
