A POWERCUT hit many homes across south Warrington in the early hours of this morning, Friday.

The blackout was first reported to Scottish Power at 2.41am.

It hit a number of properties within the WA4 postcode.

However as of 5am this morning, it has been restored.

A spokesperson for Scottish Power said: “There was a fault in your area which has now been resolved.

“If you are still without power, please call us on: 0800 001 5400.”

Residents in the area received the following message: "Your power cut was caused by an overhead line fault between Bridge Lane and Ackers Lane Substation.

"As this was an emergency, we could not notify you in advance.

"This power cut affected customers over a widespread area. Whilst most customers could be restored by remote switching on the network quicker than first anticipated, remaining properties were restored at 04:54am.

"Your power should be back on and we do not anticipate any further interruptions to your supply.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
