GULLIVER’S World has responded after it was handed a below standard two-star food hygiene rating.
The theme park, which is in Old Hall, was visited by inspectors from the Food Standards Agency on August 20.
Upon inspection, it was found that the theme park required improvement, and it was given a below standard two-star rating.
The ratings are issued by the Food Standards Agency and are publicly available online.
Ratings range from five, very good, to zero, requires urgent improvement.
The Food Standards Agency does not disclose the full reasonings behind the ratings but does reveal general areas requiring improvement.
Both the cleanliness of the building and the management of food safety were found to be ‘generally satisfactory’.
However, the hygienic handling of food, including the preparation and cooking of food, was found ne require improvement.
A business has the right to reply to its local authority about the food hygiene rating given, and this is published on the Food Standards Agency website.
“We have invested highly in new food outlets being up to standard,” the response from Gulliver’s World states.
“This has now been implemented by the new management team. At the time of inspection there was no head of catering or catering manager.
“Recruitment has now been completed and a new head of catering has been employed along with a catering manager.”
The rating and response can be viewed on the Food Standards Agency website.
