A WARRINGTON charity has benefitted from a huge donation.
Charities and community groups in the north west have been awarded more than £30,000 to support young people.
The funding is part of the nationwide Building Brighter Futures fund, which aims to help UK organisations that assist young people.
It is a collaboration between regional community foundations and EMR, a global leader in sustainable materials based in Westbrook.
The initiative was launched in 2023 and focuses on uplifting groups that improve the mental health, resilience, education opportunities, and wellbeing of young people.
From the total sum, Warrington Youth for Christ received £6,280.
The charity plans to use the money to launch an anti-bullying tour across secondary schools in Warrington.
The project aims to recruit a specialist youth worker who is experienced in dealing with issues of bullying, self-esteem, and mental resilience.
Mel Sproston, chief executive at Cheshire Community Foundation, said: "We’re delighted to work alongside EMR to deliver a second year of grants, to address community needs in so many different UK locations.
"Small charities are providing a lifeline for vast numbers of young people, and their local knowledge makes them experts in the lives they’re enriching.
"For socially conscious businesses like EMR, working with a community foundation is the key to unlocking that local knowledge and ensuring they’re maximising their social impact.
"We’re proud to be uniquely placed to help."
Other charities in the region that received funding include All Ears, which was awarded £9,500, and Just Drop-In Youth Info and Advice, which was given £15,132.
All Ears provides education, prevention, and support to those who suffer with their mental health.
The funding will help their work with schools to support young people with educational and emotional wellbeing workshops and assemblies.
Just Drop-In Youth Info and Advice delivers counselling, wellbeing activities, life skills, and mentoring for children and young people in the Macclesfield area.
The funds for groups in the North West were decided by an independent panel.
Ian Sheppard, managing director at EMR, added: "At EMR, we’re dedicated to making sure we support our communities in areas where we operate.
"The team are excited to announce the charities and community groups in the North West that will benefit from the 2024 Building Brighter Futures fund.
"As a leader in sustainable materials, the team works incredibly hard to create a brighter, greener future.
"These donations will help to ensure young people can embrace exciting possibilities in the future."
