A MAN who threatened a group of people with a knife and a hammer outside his home in Bewsey will face sentencing this month.

Christopher Kelly appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday having been charged previously with threatening a person with a bladed article in public and being in possession of a hammer in public.

The details of the charges being that on May 18, Kelly was found to have threatened a group of people near to his home on Southworth Avenue with a knife.

He was also found in possession of a hammer on that same occasion.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to both counts at the hearing on Tuesday.

Outlining the basis of plea, defending, Jeremy Rawson, stated that his client ‘made a threat to a group of males’.

Recalling Kelly’s own words, he said: “I accept that I followed the males when they made threats, and I made threats in retaliation.”

Addressing the defendant while setting a date for sentence, Honour Judge Neil Flewitt KC said: “You will be sentenced on October 30. I am ordering the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

“I am going to renew your bail on the same terms. There is a risk here for an immediate prison sentence, so please prepare for that.”
