AN inquest has been formally opened by a coroner into a death following injuries sustained while skydiving.
James Allen, of Ellesmere Port, was on holiday in Croatia where he died aged just 53 on September 8.
Warrington Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday how he was injured while skydiving and sadly died in an ambulance on his way to hospital.
A coroner officer said during the hearing that an inquest was requested due to an ‘unnatural cause of death’.
It was also requested that an inquest be opened and adjourned to allow for further work to be completed.
Jaqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire, said: “On the evidence I have heard, I am satisfied that James Allen will require an inquest.
"I therefore formally open an inquest and adjourn to be heard on Match 17, 2025. There will be an internal review by the coroner on December 1.”
