HOLLYWOOD has come to Warrington, as A-list stars have been spotted shooting a new film in Thelwall.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Pickering Crescent was closed as a crew used the residential area for the project.

Previously reported as Avelyn, the Warrington Guardian now understands that the film is called Anemone.

Directed by his son Ronan, Daniel Day-Lewis is set to star in the project and was seen mounting a motorbike on the Thelwall street.

The three-time Academy Award winner retired in 2017 but is set to take to the screen once again in Anemone.

Best known for his work in There Will Be Blood and Lincoln, the 67-year-old A-lister looks unrecognisable for the new film with a moustache and beard.

The Warrington Guardian has been told that the project is set in the 1980s and stars Lord of the Rings star, Sean Bean, and In American actress, Samantha Morton, who were also spotted filming yesterday.

Anemone will be Ronan’s first feature film, and the script has been co-written by the father-son duo.

While the details of the project are being kept under wraps, family bonds are set to be a key theme.

The cast has also been spotted shooting in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, and is set to move on to its next location this weekend.

Both Cotswold Road and Chiltern Road will be shut on Sunday for filming, with the former from its junction with Poplars Avenue to its junction with Cheviot Avenue. The latter will be closed from junctions with Cotswold Road and Lancing Avenue.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Warrington is a wanted area for film crews, with the council stating that it receives ‘multiple enquiries’ each year.

Most recently, cameras were spotted at Walton Hall and Gardens, and back in January, film crews took over Orford for the Sky One comedic drama series Brassic.
