POLICE have released video footage of officers kicking down a front door in a raid connected to the fraudulent mis-selling of cars.

Detectives from Cheshire Police’s economic crime unit have arrested a man in connection with the investigation in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday.

At around 5.30am, the force executed a warrant at an address on Templeton Drive in Fearnhead.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of fraud by false representation and theft.

A number of items were seized at the address, including mobile phones and financial documentation.

The warrant follows an investigation involving cars being bought on finance through a garage in Warrington.

DC Matt Furlong, investigation lead at Cheshire Police, said: “Today marks a significant step forward in what has been a complex investigation into the fraudulent mis-selling of cars.

“The victims have reported how they discovered outstanding debt that they were not aware of, while others have reported loans being taken out in their names without their knowledge.

“They all bought vehicles believing that everything was above board, only to discover later that they owed large amounts of money, and their credit ratings had been severely damaged.”

The suspect remains in police custody at this time, where he is assisting officers with their enquiries, the force confirmed.
