PEOPLE across Warrington had a different kind of commute this morning, Tuesday.

This was due to flooded roads across the town following the heavy rain.

It comes after a yellow weather warning was issued for the town yesterday, Monday, as forecasters said heavy rain is expected to cause some flooding and disruption.

One family have shared pictures and videos from their commute to Callands Primary School this morning.

In an attempt to ‘make humour of an awful situation’, Alice and Tommy wore their goggles on the school run this morning.

They had to make their way down Cromwell Avenue which was flooded.

This morning, further warnings and alerts have been issued across town as river and brook levels have risen.

Two serious red flood warnings are now in place.

The alerts state that flooding is possible, and urge people in those areas to be prepared, while the warnings state that flooding is expected, with residents told to take action.

Starting with the warnings, these are in place along Dallam Brook and Sankey Brook, covering Dallam Playing Fields and land further north around Europa Boulevard and Cromwell Avenue.

The flood alerts meanwhile cover areas of Orford, Dallam, Burtonwood, Old Hall, Great Sankey, Sankey Bridges, Penketh, Warburton and Heatley.
