A KEY road in Warrington will be closed at night while roadworks are carried out for almost two months.
Warrington Borough Council has announced that on Monday roadworks will start on Manchester Road, in Woolston, between Redwood Close and Riversdale.
This work is set to be carried out for eight weeks until November 23 between 7pm and 1am every weekday.
For the first two weeks of this scheme, temporary traffic lights or narrow lanes will be in place while contractors install and raised bus boarding point and upgrade the existing pedestrian crossing.
Then, from Monday October 14, road closures are set to be in place for four to five weeks between 7pm and 1am to complete resurfacing work and the realignment of the pedestrian island in Weir Lane. The roads will be fully open to traffic outside of these working hours.
Vehicles parked on the road, verge or footway obstructing the works may be removed.
A signed diversion route will be in place via Woolston Grange Avenue, Birchwood Way, Orford Road, Orford Green, School Road, Long Lane, Winwick Road and Lythgoes Lane.
Residents and businesses requiring access to the road are being advised to speak to the contractor, as they will provide as much access as is safe to do so, however, there may be times when there may be no access for several hours.
