A THEME park in Warrington has been named as one of the best in the UK after receiving national awards.
Gulliver’s World, in Old Hall, is part of a family-owned company which has three other resorts across the UK.
Founded in 1978, Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts first opened in Matlock Bath by Ray Phillips for his late wife, Hilary, and was the start of a life-long passion for the family.
Today, the company is run by Ray and Hilary’s daughter, Julie Dalton, and their son, Nick Phillips.
The company recently celebrated winning two national awards at the UK Theme Park Awards on September 19.
These awards are voted on by the public and were organised by ThemeParks-UK.com.
Gulliver’s Resorts was awarded the gold award for Best Theme Park for Families at the ceremony, beating other parks including Lego Land Windsor and Alton Towers.
“We are delighted to have won the Best Theme Park for Families at the UK Theme Park Awards,” said Julie.
“As a family-company we strive to continually innovate bringing new ideas and activities for our guests to enjoy whether that be a visit to our theme park, or a short stay break in one of our fabulous, themed accommodation options.
“Creating magical memories and experiences for all the family is really at the heard of what we do so it means a lot to the entire Gulliver’s team when we are recognised by the industry in this way."
The resort also won Best New Event for the Land of Light lantern festival which is held in Warrington and Milton Keynes.
“To also get the gold award for best new event for Land of Lights is fantastic and just shows how well received the event has been," said Julie.
“We can’t wait for the festivals to open again this November at both Gulliver’s World and Gulliver’s Land.”
