A BROKEN down train has caused services to be cancelled and delayed in Warrington.

Services are at a stand between Warrington Central Station and Manchester Oxford Road this afternoon, Wednesday, due to a broken down train in Deansgate.

This has led to a number of services from Northern Railway, East Midlands Railway and TransPennine Express being cancelled and delayed.

Northern took to X, formerly Twitter, to confirm that an engineer is now in attendance.

“Services between Bolton/Liverpool and Manchester are currently being disrupted due to a broken down train at Deansgate,” the post read.

“An engineer has just arrived on site. Northern ticket holders have acceptance on TransPennine Express services between Manchester and Preston.

"Any ticket restrictions have been lifted during this time.”
