The chairman of a Warrington protective workwear company has joined a volunteer organisation that delivers medical supplies to hospitals.

Chris Ross, chairman of J&K Ross, has signed up to be a volunteer rider for Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes.

The organisation, which was formed in 2012, provides free delivery services for the NHS to help reduce transport costs.

In June 2024 alone, the volunteers completed 370 bike runs, including 251 blood runs and 53 baby milk runs.

Mr Ross said: "Joining Blood Bikes has been an incredibly fulfilling experience.

"It’s a wonderful way to combine my love for motorbikes with the opportunity to support our NHS and make a real difference in people’s lives.

"The Blood Bikes service helps the NHS to reduce transport expenses by providing their services for free, allowing funds to be redirected towards improving patient care."

His volunteer role with Blood Bikes aligns with his professional commitment to safety and community.

J&K Ross, based on Kerfoot Street, is dedicated to protecting workers across various industries by supplying a wide range of personal protective equipment (PPE).

This includes high-visibility clothing, protective footwear, head and eye protection, and safety gear for those working at heights.

The company is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of workers in their respective fields.

Mr Ross's role in Blood Bikes is an extension of this commitment, ensuring that critical medical supplies, such as blood, donor breast milk, medications, and human tissues, are delivered quickly and securely to hospitals and care facilities.

He uses his own motorbike for these volunteer runs, combining his passion for motorbikes with his commitment to community service.
