A 10-year-old train fanatic captured footage of his favourite train by chance as it passed through Warrington.
Jenson Holmes, who lives in Chapelford, has loved trains since he was a toddler when he watched Thomas the Tank Engine for the first time.
He then began collecting push along wooden trains and tracks, and now has dozens of accessories in his collection.
“As soon as he was old enough, or even before, he started amassing every fact he could lay his hands on about real-life trains, and especially steam locomotives,” said Roy Holmes, Jenson’s granddad.
“He knows more facts than I can imagine. His love for trains and steam trains in particular is second to none.”
The 10-year-old has visited a number of heritage railways and is now building his first electric train layout at home.
Jenson and his dad recently visited Warrington Bank Quay Station and stumbled across a spectacular train.
“It was only when it pulled into the station that they realised it was ‘Sir Nigel Gresley ‘, one of his favourite steam locomotives,” said Roy.
Not only is the train one of his favourites, but it is also at the top of his list of trains he hopes to travel on one day.
The Penketh Primary School student managed to capture a video of the legendary locomotive as it passed through Warrington.
“I thought the video and photos he took were exceptional, as did his mum and dad,” said Roy.
“He’s only just received his first phone, and so this is his first attempt at capturing a moving train.”
