SARAH Hall MP has praised St John Ambulance for its 'lifesaving' first aid services in Warrington.

In September, the Warrington South representative visited the charity's Warrington Ambulance Hub to meet with crews, volunteers, and staff.

She was given a tour of the ambulance fleet and first aid services, as well as an overview of the clinical education training courses delivered to ambulance crews.

Mrs Hall also undertook a 12-hour shift with the volunteer emergency ambulance crew to gain insight into frontline operations.

She said: "I would like to thank ambulance crews and volunteers from St John Ambulance for inviting me to learn more about their lifesaving work in Warrington.

"It was a pleasure to undertake a shift to see for myself the difference St John Ambulance’s neonatal, paediatric and auxiliary services play in reducing NHS pressures and supporting local communities.

"We know when it comes to cardiac arrests every second counts.

"That’s why it’s vital we train more people in first aid to respond to health emergencies and boost the chances of survival."

The hub, which opened in April 2022, provides neonatal and paediatric services across the North West, and supports the North West Ambulance Service with frontline services.

Cathy Mitchell, emergency ambulance crew member, said: "We were delighted to welcome Sarah Hall MP to our Warrington Ambulance Hub to meet with staff and volunteers.

"We know that community first aid saves lives, that’s why we are actively recruiting first aiders and youth leaders who are an integral part of the community.

"We encourage people of all ages to get involved and help save lives."
