STING is the first headline act to be confirmed for a four-day music festival taking place on Liverpool's waterfront next year.

The 17-time Grammy Award winning former front man of The Police is currently on a world tour and will make a 'long-awaited' return to the city for the festival's closing day on Sunday, June 22, 2025, taking place at the Pier Head.

Accompanied by virtuoso guitarist and longtime collaborator Dominic Miller, and dynamic drummer Chris Maas (Mumford & Sons, Maggie Rogers), the band will perform their most electrifying hits and rarities from Sting’s timeless discography.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Liverpool’s waterfront, framed by the Three Graces and the River Mersey, On the Waterfront 2025 is described by its organisers as 'the perfect setting for what will be a four-day long weekend of live music'. In a distinguished career, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sting has received 17 Grammy Awards and sold 100 million albums worldwide from his combined work as one of the most distinctive solo artists in the world.

The composer, singer-songwriter, actor, author and activist - born Gordon Sumner in Wallsend, Northumberland - has also received a Golden Globe, four Oscar nominations, a Tony nomination, Billboard Magazine’s Century Award and Kennedy Center Honors.

The 72-year-old's support for human rights organizations such as the Rainforest Fund, Amnesty International, and Live Aid mirrors his art in its universal outreach.

Along with wife Trudie Styler, Sting founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989 to protect both the world’s rainforests and the indigenous people living there.

His STING 3.0 World tour launched in Europe this summer and recently began its North American leg at the Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan to rave reviews

The Oakland Press said: “It was the kind of night — world-class performers, and performance, in an intimate space — that gets talked about for years."

The Detroit Free Press is quoted as saying: “It was the sort of show that connected the broader artistic dots, from the crisply-syncopated Police stuff to his jazz-kissed solo excursions, while showcasing the songwriting that runs as the through line to it all."
