A Lymm runner has represented Great Britain in the Sydney Marathon.

Georgina Walker was chosen for the World Age Group Championships at the TCS Sydney Marathon due to her performance in the 2023 Yorkshire Marathon.

She was selected by the Abbott WMM Wanda Age group Rankings.

She said: "I was selected on the basis of my performance in the 2023 Yorkshire Marathon by the Abbott WMM Wanda Age group Rankings and was absolutely thrilled when I received the invitation.

Georgina has recently returned from Sydney (Image: Supplied) "The experience was wonderful: not just running the actual race itself but also the training session, huge group photo on the steps outside the iconic Sydney Opera House and the sunset cruise we were all invited on.
She was selected to take part following her performance in the 2023 Yorkshire Marathon (Image: Supplied) "As for the actual race - it started with everyone running over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, was twisty turn, lumpy bumpy in the middle, and ended at the steps of the Opera House.

"There was so much to take in en route and the volunteers were incredible.

"It was an absolutely unforgettable experience and a real privilege to be part of it all."
