A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital after a crash with a car. 

Emergency services rushed to Vista Road near Newton shortly before 10.15am today, Friday, September 20.

Residents reported seeing emergency services in attendance this morning.

A Seat Tarraco car and a Yamaha motorbike were involved in the crash.

The motorcyclist was given first aid and taken to hospital for treatment.

The occupants of the car were unharmed in the collision, a fire and rescue service spokesman said.

The Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Fire crews were called to a road traffic collision (RTC) on Vista Road this morning.

"Crews were alerted at 10.08am and on scene at 10.13am, with two fire engines in attendance.

"Crews arrived to find a motorcycle and a car had been involved in a collision.

"The car remained on all four wheels, with two occupants of the car unharmed and out of the vehicle upon fire crews’ arrival."

He added: "The motorcyclist received treatment at scene from North West Ambulance Service while fire crews administered first aid and applied special absorbent material to spillages on the road to make the area safe.

"The casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment. Fire crews left the scene with Merseyside Police at 10.58am."
 
A Merseyside Police spokesman added: "At around 10am, we were called to Vista Road to reports of a collision involving a Seat Tarraco and a Yamaha motorbike.
 
"The rider of the motorbike will be taken to hospital by ambulance for assessment.
 
"A road closure is in place on Vista Road to Penny Lane, and on Haydock Lane/Vista Road down to Crow Lane West.
