A ‘LOVING’ woman who was hit by a van on the M6 in Warrington was intending to take her own life, an inquest heard.

Lisa Kelsall, tragically died on April 9 this year after being struck by a van near junction 21, Croft.

An inquest into the 52-year-old’s death took place at Cheshire Coroner’s Court on Wednesday.

It was heard how Ms Kelsall, from Stoke, had a history of mental health issues and alcohol misuse and that prior to her death, she had ‘tried to take her own life on several occasions’.

The court was told how on the evening of April 8, Ms Kelsall left her home address in her car ‘expressing an intention to take her own life’.

In the early hours of April 9, she was seen driving ‘erratically’ on the M6.

She was then involved in a collision and she left her car before climbing over a barrier and making her way onto the carriageway of the M6 junction 21, Croft.

Here, she was hit by a van and sustained ‘unsurvivable injuries’.

Ms Kelsall was pronounced deceased by paramedics at 2.25am.

Before extending her condolences to Ms Kelsall's family and friends, area coroner for Cheshire Victoria Davies concluded that her death was one of suicide.

Following Ms Kelsall's death, her family paid tribute to her.

They said: "A loving daughter, mother and grandmother-to-be, taken too soon. RIP Lisa Kelsall. Forever in our hearts."
