A FIRST look at an advert staring a beloved celebrity singer has been released, and it was filmed in Warrington this summer.
Back in July, the Warrington Guardian reported that a film crew was spotted parked outside the Treasury building on Museum Street.
Around the front of the building, a trailer appeared, and eagle-eyed spectators spotted beloved singer and British icon, Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Today, it has been confirmed that the Murder on the Dancefloor singer is now the new face of Freemans’ Autumn Winter campaign.
Freemans is a 119-year-old retailer that retired its famous catalogue and has now shifted its focus onto occupying the online department store space.
“As one of the UK’s most iconic brands, we can think of no one better than one of the UK’s most iconic singers to lead the way with us as we continue to evolve,” said Richard Cristofoli, chief customer officer.
“That is exactly what we have with this partnership with Sophie. Together with our Style Squad we are creating a content platform that responds to customer needs for more help and advice through the new season.”
Sitting front and centre, Sophie will appear in a 30 second advert that will premier on Friday in the Coronation Street ad break, the season opener of Channel 4’s Gogglebox, as well as on all major digital channels.
Shot on location in Stockport, the Trafford Centre and in Warrington, the advert will also feature an exclusive preview of the 45-year-old singer’s new song, Freedom of the Night, which will be released later this month.
The advert showcases the beautiful interior of the Treasury, with preview shots showing Sophie posing in and around the lift.
“I’m delighted to be onboard with Freemans,” said Sophie.
“I remember it was one of the first places that I saw fashion everyone could access and started a passion that I hold today.
“Fashion for me should be fun, and I think that’s exactly what we show with the TV ad.
“I love it and hope you do too. Plus, you get a sneak preview of my new single Freedom of the Night. Exciting!”
