A SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy From Warrington has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a teenager.

At around 10.15pm on Monday last week, September 2, police were called to Pennine Drive, in Parr, St Helens to reports that a 14-year-old boy had been stabbed multiple times by two attackers, who reportedly ran off into nearby Gaskell Park.

The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. 

Police described his condition as serious but stable last week and he continues to recover from his injuries.

Detectives have made a second arrest in connection with the stabbing.

A 17-year-old boy from Warrington has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He has been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries. 

A 19-year-old man, from Newton-le-Willows, had been arrested last week on suspicion of wounding with intent in connection with the attack, and released bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wayment said: "This was believed to have been a targeted attack and the investigation is progressing with this latest arrest.

"However, we are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward with what they know. If you live close to Gaskell Park or were passing by around 10pm last Monday, please do check your CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices and share anything you think may be significant.

"I want to assure people that we will act on all information to find those responsible and make the community a safer place."
