THERE were 236 babies born under Warrington and Halton Hospital Teaching Hospitals last month.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust collates all the baby-related data every month detailing how many babies are born – boys and girls – whether there are any sets of twins or triplets and how babies are delivered.

There are monthly stats for the lightest baby and the heaviest baby and which is the busiest day of each month for new arrivals.

Some 236 new arrivals were born at Warrington Hospital or at home in the eighth month of 2024 – 121 boys and 115 girls – and four sets of twins.

The lightest baby born in August weighed 2lb 14oz (1,305g) and the heaviest baby topped the scales at 10lb 12oz (4,895g).

The busiest day for babies being born last month was August 27 when 13 babies made an appearance.

Four babies were born in the Nest – the midwifery-led unit – together with 33 elective Caesarean sections and 64 unplanned Caesarean sections.

There were 119 vaginal births and 20 assisted deliveries and some 20 babies were induced.

Six babies were born at home and there were five water births and 74 per cent of babies were breast fed.
