CUTS to the winter fuel allowance are set to go ahead after the Government won a vote in the House of Commons on Tuesday.
A Conservative motion to annul the Government’s cuts to winter fuel payments was defeated by 348 votes to 228, a majority of 120.
A total of 52 Labour MPs were listed as having no vote recorded – although this does not automatically equate to an abstention for each MP as they may have received permission to miss a vote.
Warrington South MP Sarah Hall, Labour, and Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols, Labour, both voted against the Conservative motion.
Tatton MP Esther McVey, Conservative, voted in favour of the motion. Following boundary changes, the Tatton constituency now includes Lymm.
