POLICE are investigating an alleged hate crime on a train heading to Warrington.
The incident was reported to British Transport Police on Saturday, September 7.
It comes following a post circulating on X, formerly Twitter, which claimed a man, who is believed to be from Warrington, said he ‘wants to kill all Muslims’.
The train, which operated by Northern, was heading to Warrington Central from Liverpool Lime Street.
The X post says that man was asked to get off the train at Liverpool South Parkway at around 8.30pm.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said the force is now investigating the incident.
They said: “We are aware of a video on social media which shows an incident of hate crime on a train at Liverpool South Parkway on Saturday 7 September.
“We take all reports very seriously and are investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via text on 61016 reference 787 of 7 September or call 0800 405040.
“Or contact Crimestoppers UK anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
