A CASUALTY has been taken to hospital by emergency services after a fire broke out in a flat in Bewsey this afternoon, Saturday.
Shortly before 2pm, North West Fire Control received multiple calls about smoke coming from the roof of a terraced property on Folly Lane.
Three fire engines attended the scene, where crews found that a ground floor flat was on fire.
Using breathing apparatus, the crews used a hose reel water jet to extinguish it, as well as a high pressure fan to clear the smoke.
Neighbouring properties were checked with thermal imaging cameras to ensure that the fire had not spread.
One casualty was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and burns and was taken to hospital by an ambulance crew. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
