AN INDIE-rock band from Warrington will be headlining their first out-of-town gig after continued success.

Parlours is a band with three members hailing from Warrington and two from Runcorn that burst onto the scene after forming at university in 2022.

Kane Partington, Tom Gaskell, Tom Jones, Jack Swanwick and Joe Dursley bonded over similar interests and decided to try making music together.

“We sort of just bonded straight away over football and music,” said Kane, who plays guitar.

“We didn’t know Tom [Gaskell] could sing - I’ve known him since I was four or five, but we didn’t realise he could sing until a couple weeks before we decided to do it.

“Life’s too short isn’t it, you’ve just got to go for it.

“We’re definitely a like a brotherhood now. Before we did the first gig, I was bricking it personally, but when you go up there it’s just a magic experience and it brings you closer and closer together.”

The former Priestley College and The Heath students released their first song, Hacienda, in May 2023 and have gone from strength to strength since then.

After performing at a number of events locally, the indie-rock band recently played on BBC Introducing, a platform designed to help promote under-the-radar talent.

“It caught me off guard at first when we were approached,” said Kane.

“Not saying it didn’t deserve to be on there, it was just surreal because it’s like a step in the right direction.

“We’re just hoping to keep it going and tick off all these mini milestones.”

The 24-year-olds will also be headlining their first out-of-town gig in Liverpool later this month, at Jacaranda Liverpool.

“People can expect a lot of energy from us,” said Kane.

“We’re trying to fill a bit of a gap in the industry that we’re more into from our influences.

“We have quite a broad range of influences. Each of us in the band loves different music, which kind of ties in our own specific genre – it all kind of blends into one, it’s quite special really.”

Parlours will play The Jacaranda on Slater Street in Liverpool on September 21 and tickets can be found here.

The band don’t just have a new gig lined up, but new music too, with a new single called Bulldog.

The single is set to be released next week on September 13, and Kane teased that the band’s been waiting for the right time to share it with fans.

“We wrote and recorded it quite a while ago at a recording studio in Liverpool, but it wasn’t done overnight,” said Kane.

“The lyrics kind of fit the song because it’s quite an angsty song, but it’s one of our more creative songs.

“We’ve got a lot of plans. We’ve been waiting for the right of time, so it’s been a long wait to get this one out. It’s been busy.”
