She has just started in reception at Great Sankey Primary School, following in the footsteps of her mum, nanny and great gran, who were all pupils at the Liverpool Road school.

The four-year-old joins older brother Lucas, who is now in Year 4, after mum Sarah started in 1997, nanny Jane in 1973 and great gran Mary in 1949.

When Sarah, who is now 31, walked into Great Sankey Primary School for the first time, the Warrington Guardian covered the event, as her grandmother Lucy – who was born in 1915 – was alive and had attended the same school in 1920.

Sarah, who lives on Lingley Road in Great Sankey, said: “Lyla cannot wait to start school and keeps saying she’s a big girl now.

“Lucas has ADHD and his teachers have worked wonders with him – he absolutely loves maths.

“I remember hymns in the hall on wooden benches and achievement assemblies on a Friday.

“Sports days were great fun and my mum used to help at the summer fairs.”
