A CHURCH in Great Sankey is set to show off its beautiful architecture and rich history to visitors.
St Mary’s Church, which is on Liverpool Road, will be opening its doors this weekend to the public.
On Saturday and Sunday visitors will have the chance to learn more about the Grade II listed church.
Nearly 250 years old, the church has an extensive history, which dates back to 1640.
From 10am until 2pm on both days, visitors can admire the beautiful 18th century building that has a mix of old and new elements.
Refreshments will be served and admission into the church is free.
“We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the history of your local parish church,” said Reverend Jeremy Tear, pioneer team rector for West Warrington Church and vicar of St Mary’s.
“This will include a slide display of our beautiful stained-glass windows and pictures of the church and churchyard.”
