A POPULAR craft store in Warrington has become one of the biggest contributors to a multi-million fundraising partnership across the UK.

Hobbycraft, which is based in Junction Nine Retail Park, has been partnered with Together for Short Lives since 2012.

The charity provides information and support for families with seriously ill children and helps supports children’s hospices across the UK.

The team at the Warrington store helped continue this partnership and managed to raise £8,000 for Claires House Children’s hospice, which is based in Wirral.

Hobbycraft Warrington was one of the biggest contributors to the partnership in 2023, helping the company reach the fundraising milestone of £3 million across the past 11 years.

“It is simply incredible that Hobbycraft’s colleagues and customers have reached this £3 million milestone,” said Andy Fletcher, chief executive at Together for Short Lives.

“This money is supporting families with seriously ill children right in the heart of their community, and so on behalf of children’s hospices and Together for Short Lives, we want to thank every single person who has donated in store, bought one of our products, or made a difference through your creative fundraising.

“Every penny raised makes such a big difference to the lives of seriously ill children – you are all absolutely amazing. Thank you!”

The arts and crafts retailer hosts months in-store fundraising events across the 119 stores in the UK, including bake sales, raffles and fancy-dress days.

Last month, staff members took part in ‘Superhero Saturday’, and dressed up as their favourite heroes, made masks, capes and cakes for customers.

Customers across the UK have also helped raise £500,000 for Together for Short Lives through an optional 20p donation when paying by card in-store.

“The £3 million fundraising total is a fantastic achievement and a testament to our colleagues and customers who remain dedicated to raising vital finds for such a worthy charity,” said Dominic Jordan, chief executive at Hobbycraft.

“Together for Short Lives makes such a difference to the lives of so many children and families, and our colleagues and customers really go that extra mile to help with raising vital funds for children every year.

“This amazing support has not stopped in 2024, and we expect to hit a landmark £3.5 million total by the end of the year.

“Here’s to many more years of fundraising challenges.”
