FIREFIGHTERS rescued a trapped casualty after a crash involving two vehicles and seven people in Warrington.

Three fire engines, from Birchwood, Warrington, and Lymm, along with police and paramedics were called to Birchwood Way in Fearnhead at 9.40pm on Friday, August 30.

Cheshire Police closed Birchwood Way in both directions, which was in place for several hours, according to report from members of the public.

Fire crews rescued a person trapped in their vehicle before handing them over to paramedics.

In total, seven casualties were involved in the crash, and firefighters assisted paramedics with their care.   

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were called to a collision involving two cars.

“One casualty trapped inside their vehicle was extricated and taken to hospital by paramedics.

“Firefighters assisted paramedics with casualties.

“Cheshire Police were also at the scene, putting a full road closure in place.

“A total of seven casualties were involved.”
