PLANS have been approved to open a waste storage facility in Great Sankey.
The council has given the green light to convert an empty commercial unit at Penketh Business Park off Liverpool Road.
The unit has been empty for more than four years and will now be used as a temporary storage of used oil.
It will create three jobs according to plans.
They state that every week around five vehicles will transport oil for temporary storage.
The plans add: "These small batches of oil would measure approximately 1-8 cubic metres.
"This oil would be transferred to a stationary tank (31 cubic metres) and stored within the commercial unit. Approximately every two weeks, it is anticipated that the stationary tank will reach maximum capacity.
"At that stage, the oil would be transferred to a large mobile tank for moving to another location."
Council planners approved the scheme last week.
