UNITED Utilities have given an update after residents reported their tap water tasting strangely.
Some residents in Great Sankey and Penketh said earlier this week to say they have noticed a difference with their water, stating it had a "funny taste".
Others said it was a 'really bad taste'
United Utilities issued a statement on Tuesday to say they are aware of the issue.
They said that there have been "adjustments made to our treatment process" and that "supplies should return to normal in the coming days".
United Utilities said the issue is affecting residents in Merseyside and Cheshire.
On Thursday afternoon, August 22, United Utilities issued an update to say they are "making progress".
The statement read: "We are aware that some customers are experiencing a different taste or smell to their water supply. Our team are making progress and our top priority is getting things back to normal.
"You may see us out and about as we continue to monitor and sample the water supply in your area that can be used as normal.
"The changes to our treatment processes continue to improve the situation as we planned.
"We’re sorry for any inconvenience this is causing. Thank you for your patience."
