UNITED Utilities have issued a statement after residents reported their tap water tasting strangely.

Some residents in Warrington say they have noticed a difference with their water.

One said the water has been 'tasting so bad' in Great Sankey and Penketh.

United Utilities issued a statement to say they are aware of the issue.

They said that there have been "adjustments made to our treatment process" and that supplies should return to normal in the coming days.

United Utilities said the issue is affecting residents in Merseyside and Cheshire.

The statement said: "We are aware that some customers are experiencing a different taste or smell to their water supply.

"We would like to reassure you that we’re frequently sampling the water in your area, and you can continue to use it as normal.

"We have made adjustments to our treatment process, and you will start to see your supply get back to normal over the next few days.

"We’ll continue to monitor this until all supplies have returned to normal.

"We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing and thanks for your patience."
