WARRINGTON has been named one of the country’s ‘tanning capitals’
New data released by beauty and wellness marketplace Fresha reveals that the town is the nation’s fifth-biggest tanning hub, boasting well above the average number of tanning studios compared to other parts of the UK.
The study counted the number of tanning salons across all UK areas with a population of at least 100,000.
Warrington comes third in the UK with 17.15 tanning salons per 100,000 residents, putting it 74 per cent above the national average.
Blackpool is in first place, with 34.2 tanning salons per 100,000 residents – a whopping 249 per cent above the national average of 9.8 salons per 100,000 residents.
This is followed by Sunderland, Wakefield and Preston, ahead of Warrington on the list.
At the opposite end of the table, Slough has the fewest studios with 1.2 per 100,000 residents, followed by Swansea, High Wycombe, Bradford and Gloucester.
A spokesman for Fresha said: “It is clear that Warrington residents love to pamper themselves with a golden glow.
“It is also interesting that some areas known for their love of spray tan, such as Derry and Liverpool, did not even make the top ten.
“Perhaps there is an opportunity for business owners in these areas to tap into this market and open more spray tanning studios for residents interested in the tanned look while avoiding UVA exposure.
“It is also useful to know which areas have the fewest tanning salons, as it may be a good indicator for beauty entrepreneurs looking to expand and reach new clientele in untapped markets.”
