A SPECTACULAR red moon could be seen over Warrington last night, Sunday.
It was spotted by many residents across the town.
According to the BBC, the moon appeared red due to smoke from wildfires across the Atlantic.
Jet streams, which are a ‘high altitude current of air that occurs when warmer air from the south meets cooler air from the north’, have carried smoke from wildfires above the British Isles, bringing vivid colours and sunsets and sunrises with a red tinge.
BBC forecaster Gareth Burleigh-Harvey says that jet streams make the sky look orange as smoke particles diffuse the sunlight.
Tonight, Monday, the moon is set to be particularly eye catching again.
This is as a rare blue supermoon is expected to appear above the UK.
