THE head of Lymm Sixth Form has been left ‘delighted’ after A-Level students achieve the ‘best ever results’ seen on record for the second year running.
Results days provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard work of students, and staff, over the previous two years and Lymm has seen through another extremely successful results day today, Thursday, as eager students arrived at the gate in anticipation this morning.
Commenting on the day, a spokesperson for the school said: “We are delighted to say that the Year 13 students sitting their exams this year have done extremely well and have in fact surpassed the record set by last year’s cohort, to take the mantle of our best ever post-16 results.”
Similarly to last year, once again nearly all the students in the year group have secured places at their preferred universities.
And a high number of pupils are attending some of the most prestigious institutions in the country including Oxford and Cambridge.
Hayley Jennings, head of Lymm Sixth Form commented on the results, saying: “I am absolutely delighted.
“This cohort has been an exceptional group of students, not just in terms of their exam results, but as well-rounded and delightful individuals.
“It has been a privilege to see how they have progressed over the last two years and the fantastic individual results they have achieved. I really am so proud of them.”
Some of the many high achieving students that have emerged this year include; Thea Benson (four A*s), Robin Holden (four A*s), Ben Hutchison (four A*s), Lucy Quayle (four A*s), Erin Allsup (three A*s), Tom Bettridge (three A*s), Tin Chu (three A*s), Ben Gomm (three A*s), Anna Shaw (three A*s), Remi Tavernier (three A*s).
And the following students achieved at least three A*/A grades: Thomas Anderson, Asya Bagan, Tom Davies, Hannah Davies, Matthew Johnson, Eve Kayll, James Knowles, Dylan McNicholas, Barnaby Nicholson, Charlotte Storey, Lucy Williams, Nell Wynne-Roberts, Ella Yates.
A special mention was also made by the school to Belle Caqueret who got a Distinction in health & social care as well as one A* and an A in her A-Levels.
Maddie Walsh achieved a Distinction* and a Distinction in Fashion and an A at A-Level.
Callum Doubleday also achieved a Distinction* and two Distinctions in the BTEC Sport Extended Diploma, and Ruby Stephens achieved two Distinction*s in Fashion & Textiles.
Gwyn Williams, head teacher, added: “I’m extremely proud of all of our Year 13 students and the fantastic results they have achieved.
"Having faced disruption to a significant proportion of their school years due to the pandemic it is remarkable that they have gone on to achieve Lymm High School’s best ever Post-16 results.
"It is a fantastic testament to their hard work, determination and resilience.
"These results underline the strength of our Sixth Form, which is built on an extremely committed, supportive and hard working Sixth Form team of teachers and support staff.
"I am delighted for the students and would also like to thank all the staff as well as parents and carers for the support they give to our fantastic students.”
