A POPULAR swimming pool in Warrington is set to close until September.

Planned maintenance works are scheduled to take place at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub this month, with both pools set to close on Tuesday, August 27.

And while other LiveWire swimming facilities can still be used, disruption of swimming lessons is expected across all of its sites.

Addressing the reasons for the pool closure a spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: “The current swimming pools’ pump and filter, which keep the water clean for swimming, are reaching the end of their serviceable life.

“They are therefore going to be replaced. This will ensure the pools at Orford continue to provide LiveWire members and those who use the pools, with the best possible facilities.

“To allow for the maintenance work to take place, both pools at Orford will unfortunately need to close at the same time.

“The maintenance works have been planned to take place over the summer holidays, so that school swimming groups will be able to use the pools when term begins.”

The council confirmed that members can still attend any of the other LiveWire swimming facilities across town.

These include:

  • Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub

  • Woolston Neighbourhood Hub

  • Bewsey and Dallam Community Hub

  • Broomfields Leisure Centre

However, sadly there will be an impact on public swim sessions across all of the sites. This is ‘due to relocating some programmed activities, such as swimming lessons, during the closure’.

You can find the locations and timetables for our swimming pools via the LiveWire website: livewirewarrington.co.uk/leisure/swimming/timetables or the YourLiveWire app.

A WBC spokesperson added: “We understand that the pool closure will cause disruption, and we are sorry for the inconvenience this temporary closure will cause.
