A CARE home in Lymm allowed residents to reminisce and explore fashion from 80 years ago.
Residents at Cheshire Grange Care Home, on Booth’s Hill Road, journeyed back in time through the use of memory boxes.
Donated by Marks and Spencer’s Archive, these memory boxes included original clothing and accessories dating from the 1940s to the 1970s.
“It was wonderful seeing fashions that I wore when I was younger, and most of them wouldn’t look out of place today,” said Joan Ashworth, a resident at the home.
These items allowed the residents to reminisce, and some pieces were modelled by the care home’s activities team.
“We do our best to prove a wide range of activities and entertainment at Cheshire Grange as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this one was particularly enjoyable,” said Dawn Holsgrove-Smith, general manager of Cheshire Grange Care Home.
“Listening to the ladies’ tales of starched collars and pantie girdles made me really appreciate 21st century fashion.”
